The first story I ever wrote for The Richfield Reaper was about Sevier County’s 4-H club and how they’d dubbed us “the dancing county” for our swing dance activities. That was January 2022. I never expected that quirky little article would kick off such a meaningful journey — one filled with late nights, early deadlines, and the occasional “Did anyone even read this?” moments.

As we celebrate Pioneer Day, we often tell stories of our foremothers, idealizing their qualities of strength and abilities to make do.
When fires like these devastate our local communities, it’s our own local firefighters who are first on the scene.
When I was in grade school, I did my science fair project on the damage that wildfires can cause.
