Sandra “Sandy” Jeanne Avondet left this physical world May 22, 2023, in Gunnison. She was born Feb. 16, 1948, in Salt Lake City to Mervin and Mildred Hover. She was the middle child of nine children.

Sandy married Richard “Rick” Avondet July 2, 1965, in Ogden. Her brother Gary was in the service with Rick and introduced them. They knew it was love at first sight. They got married after only knowing each other 10 days. Together they had 3 children. They made their home in Centerfield for the past 30-plus years.

Sandy really enjoyed cooking for family gatherings. She also enjoyed sewing and working on crossword puzzles while watching scary movies.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Rick, of 58 years; their children, Scott, Connie and Janet; 9 grandchildren, Tricia (Charley), Kyle, Katie, Monika (Miguel), Bryan, Veronika, Melissa, Taylor (Wyatt), Parker, Lane, and Jared; 11 great-grandchildren, Brilee, Kaylani, Kyley, Kyler, Adalee, Taylee, Deklynn, Mateo, Waylon, Dalton, and Averi; 3 sisters, Irene Mack, Sherry Hugh and Debbie Hover; and sisters-in-law, Sherry Wright and Linda Griggs.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; son in-law, Frank; and siblings, Marilyn Rogers, Ronnie Hover, Gary Hover, Rick Hover, and Jan Galbraith.

If you ran into Sandy at the store, you always heard her talk about her kids or grandkids. She was also mom/grandma to many more.
