ROB HYDE

Charles Robert “Rob” Hyde, 71, passed away March 20, 2023, at the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins. He was born May 22, 1951, to Esther and William Mormon in Boulder, Colorado, and was later adopted by Calvin Hyde.

Rob grew up in Durango, Colorado, and graduated high school in 1968. He joined the U.S. Navy June 10, 1969. He was a machinist mate during Vietnam and was honorably discharged June 13, 1970. 

He married Yvonne Alverez Andreas in 1974, together they had one son and three daughters. They later divorced. He later met and married Cindy Memmott in 1992 and gained another daughter.

Rob was a lifelong student, he had countless college credits and no degrees. He loved to learn. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, or just going for rides in the mountains with his family.

He worked for FEMA and helped with hurricane Katrina and hurricane Ivan. 

He was a Third-Degree Master Mason, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the VFW.

Rob is survived by the love of his life, Cindy; his children, Tony (April) Hyde, Lisa (Robert) Armstrong, Misty (Rusty) Morrill, Elizabeth Hyde, and Jessica (Ryan) Putnam; his stepdad, Bobby Williams; siblings, Michael (Maryann) Hyde, Dan (Deidre) Hyde, and Lisa (Jeff) Rudack; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and countless “unofficially adopted” kids.

He is preceded in death by his mom, Esther Williams; his dad, Calvin Hyde; and a great grandson.

An open house to honor Rob will be held Thursday, March 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Valley Community Presbyterian Church, 56 East 200 South in Richfield.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Burial with military honors accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard will take place at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Friday, March 31, 2023, at noon under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina.
