JOHN GAY
Funeral services for John William Gay took place Saturday, Jan. 28, in the Joseph ward chapel, with Bishop Tom Stephens conducting.
A family prayer was shared by Casey Munger (brother-in-law) and the invocation was given by Melissa McLaughlin (sister).
The organist/accompanist was Pam Gay (aunt), with chorister Sheralyn Levie.
Musical selections included congregational hymns of “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” and “Abide With Me,” MaryJan Munger, David Gay, Robert Gay, Alan Gay, Andrea Gay, and Melissa McLaughlin (siblings) sang “Be Still My Soul” and Andrea Gay (sister) sang “Master The Tempest is Raging” accompanied by Heather Steimle.
A tribute was given by MaryJan Munger (sister) and remarks were given by David Gay (brother).
Closing remarks were provided by Bishop Stevens and the benediction was offered by Braxton Merzlock (son-in-law).
Pallbearers included son, John William Gay II; brothers, David Gay, Robert Gay and Alan Gay; son-in-law, Braxton Merzlock; nephews, Isaac Munger and Victor Munger; and cousins, Jeff Woolley, Ben Taggart and Nathan Taggart.
Interment was in the Monroe City Cemetery.
The dedicatory prayer was provided by Jon McLaughlin (brother-in-law).
Compassionate services were provided by the Joseph LDS ward Relief Society.
