Most people know the old saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” For an 11-year-old kid, that village may already consist of parents, grandparents, older siblings, coaches, religious leaders, neighbors, and teachers. As is the case for fifth graders at Pahvant Elementary, that can also include principals, instructional assistants, a librarian, a Richfield City Police Department resource officer, Sevier County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue, Snow College faculty, local law enforcement, paramedics, emergency responders, and more.As another school year winds down, the last weeks of elementary school fills up with fun and educational activities before the long awaited summer school break in late May.Now that the curriculum has been taught, testing has been completed, and students have worked hard all year, the fifth grade students at Pahvant Elementary have been and will be busy as this week completes the end of their elementary school career and ushers in the start of the newest chapter of their lives, middle school. Some of these exciting activities include the annual fifth grade kickball tournament, the grade wide spelling bee, the awards assembly where awards are given to students who have passed off physical goal requirements like running the mile in a certain time, doing so many sit ups in a minute, the V sit and reach testing flexibility, and don’t forget the pull ups.
