Former Richfield Area Chamber of Commerce director and contributing writer to our paper, Jeff Raisor, has been selected to serve as the outreach advisor for southern Utah under Senator John Curtis.

“I am excited and honored to be part of Team Curtis,” said Raisor. “The Senator is determined to reach out to all parts of the state. I have the privilege of talking to Senator Curtis each week in order to receive information about his activities and provide input to him about local positions and needs.”

In this newly developed position, Raisor will represent an eleven-county area, including Sevier, Wayne, Piute, Sanpete, Juab, Millard, Washington, Kane, Iron, Garfield, and Beaver counties.

“I will be the eyes and ears for the Senator in my region,” said Raisor. “I have already begun meeting with county commissioners, associations of governments, and local federal agencies across southern Utah.”

Raisor emphasized his focus on not only conveying what Senator Curtis is doing in the legislature but also gathering information from everyday citizens to relay forward.

“I will be meeting with Senator Curtis every week,” said Raisor. “If there is an issue, I will personally present that information to him.”

Senator Curtis currently serves on four committees, which include:

Environment and Public Works (EPW): Focuses on environmental protection, public infrastructure, transportation, and managing natural resources, including oversight of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and policies affecting air, water, and land quality.

Foreign Relations: Oversees U.S. foreign policy, international treaties, diplomatic appointments, and foreign aid, playing a key role in shaping America’s relationships with other nations.

Commerce, Science, and Transportation: Addresses issues related to commerce, trade, transportation, science, technology, and telecommunications, as well as oversight of industries like aviation, rail, and maritime. This committee is also important for the Olympics.

Small Business and Entrepreneurship: Advocates for small businesses by examining access to capital, federal contracting opportunities, entrepreneurship programs, and regulations impacting small enterprises.

“I am excited to be in this new position,” said Raisor. “Please feel free to reach out to me with any concerns, questions, or information that you believe is important to relay to Senator Curtis.”
