On Sunday, Jan. 26, Jeremy Foisy was promoted from Sergeant First Class (SFC) to First Sergeant (1SG) as part of the 2nd Battalion, 222nd Field Artillery, Alpha Battery. The ceremony was held alongside fellow soldiers in recognition of his dedication and leadership.

1SG Foisy began his military career in January 1996 when he joined the Utah Army National Guard as a howitzer crew member in the same battalion. He separated from the service in 2002 but rejoined in 2011 as an E4 to deploy to Iraq alongside his brother and fellow service members.

Captain (CPT) McKenzie Bennett spoke about 1SG Foisy’s significant accomplishments during his years of service, emphasizing his unwavering dedication and leadership, which have been instrumental to their unit’s success.

“The standard is only as good as the person that upholds it,” said CPT Bennett.

The promotion ceremony was a special family moment as 1SG Foisy’s younger brother, Command Sergeant Major (CSM) David Foisy, and his wife, Stephanie Foisy, replaced his SFC ranks with his new 1SG insignia.

CSM David Foisy shared that Jeremy’s commitment to service inspired him to join the Army National Guard and continue their family’s long tradition of military service.

Additionally, 1SG Foisy has been selected to take on the responsibility of Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 222nd Field Artillery. The change of responsibility ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 2, at the Cedar City Readiness Center.

“I am so proud of him,” said Stephanie Foisy. “I am inspired by his love for our country and his pride in serving alongside his fellow servicemen and women.”
