Richfield is set to experience the magic of Christmas through music and dance as Grammy-nominated and Billboard No. 1 concert violinist Jenny Oaks Baker returns with her acclaimed Christmas show, Joy to the World! A Sacred Celebration. This spiritual and artistic masterpiece will take center stage at the Sevier Valley Center on Wednesday, December 11, at 7 p.m.
Baker, whose performances blend virtuosity with heartfelt spirituality, expressed her excitement about returning to Richfield.
“The crowd in Richfield was absolutely wonderful last year,” she shared. “You could feel the energy, and the community enjoyed the local performers as well.”
This year’s concert promises fresh energy with new songs and featured performers. True to her tradition of fostering collaboration, Baker’s performance will include contributions from local and state talent. The Sevier Oratorio Society will join her on stage, along with her talented children—known as the musical group, Family Four. The BYU Theatre Ballet and the Shelley School of Irish Dance will bring additional artistry to the evening.
The program is a Christ-centered celebration of the season, featuring sacred and exhilarating arrangements of treasured Christmas carols. Irish soprano Alex Sharpe, formerly of Celtic Woman, and baritone Preston Yates will lend their voices to the performance. Emmy Award-winning composer Kurt Bestor and New York Times bestselling author Jason F. Wright will contribute their talents with original music and narration, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
“I feel like I have a commission from the Lord to bring people closer to Christ through my music and to bring Christ-centered programs to the world,” said Baker. “This show is about celebrating Him and His birth during the Christmas season.”
The concert will feature a global array of carols, including gospel renditions of “O Come All Ye Faithful,” a gypsy-inspired “Patapan,” and an African spin on “Little Drummer Boy.” Other highlights include music from France, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, and the United States, promising an enriching and uplifting experience for all.
The Joy to the World! tour spans 15 stops across Utah, Idaho, California, Colorado, Nevada, and Canada. Baker welcomes audiences of all denominations to come together in unity and celebration during this sacred season.
