Student success begins in the home

How do we provide a world-class education at Pahvant Elementary? Student success begins in the home, and as children continue to grow, it becomes the joint responsibility of home and school.
We have all heard the saying that it takes a village to raise a child. At Pahvant Elementary we understand our role in the village and have worked hard to ensure our students have a balanced education. We have a team of teachers and support staff that put their hearts and souls into providing a world-class education in small-town Utah.
We take pride in the service we provide to our community and understand that our students only get one opportunity at each grade level, and that’s not something we take lightly.
While we have worked hard to ensure our students are successful in the core subjects with targeted interventions and extensions, our students are offered opportunities that go beyond reading, writing, and mathematics. It’s exciting to see their individual personalities come to life as they all participate each week in an art class with a visual art specialist.
In addition to visual arts, our students attend music class each week where we have a music specialist getting our students excited about music and rhythm. It doesn’t end there.
We offer an early-morning choir for fourth and fifth-grade students with opportunities to perform multiple times for a variety of audiences. We are focused on innovation as well, including robotics and coding opportunities. Science is an area we have grown extensively in over the past few years as teachers have dedicated time and efforts to get our students excited.
At Pahvant Elementary we are committed to teaching the whole child. A well-balanced education prepares our students for whatever career path they may choose. We understand that we are teaching them for a future that doesn’t exist at this point in time and are always adapting our lessons to give them the best opportunity for success. Making school fun and exciting while maintaining growth and development is our goal.
We work hard to take learning beyond the classroom. Each grade level has at least one field trip opportunity where we have partnered with different organizations to support our efforts to provide high-quality field opportunities.
In addition to field opportunities, our teachers do an amazing job at bringing in experts from the outside to supplement lessons. We involve businesses and organizations in providing their expertise in this effort. Our teachers continue to work hard to provide exciting opportunities for our students.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to attend grade-level programs, Christmas Dinner, Field Day, Pancake Breakfast, parent reading seminars, choir performances, our annual community patriotic program, and many other opportunities, we welcome you to join us!
One of the many things we have focused on over the past several years is social and emotional support for our students. As you can imagine, it can be challenging with over 500 personalities and a significant number of backgrounds and home lives. As principal of Pahvant Elementary, I’m fortunate to be with some of the most caring and dedicated people I’ve ever known.
As I walk through the hallways and go in and out of classrooms I’m continually reminded of the hard work and many hours our team puts in every day. I want to thank my Pahvant Elementary team for the dedication and sincere efforts they put forth each day.
I can honestly say they have your children’s and grandchildren’s best interests in mind. I’m very proud of the work they do and of the world-class service they provide in our village!
