Monroe Pioneer Day Parade

Although a usually somewhat quiet city of about 2,600 people, the streets come alive the week of July 24 as people flock to the city of Monroe nestled in beautiful Sevier County.Every July 24, Pioneer Day is celebrated in Utah to commemorate the Mormon pioneers arriving in the Sat Lake valley after a grueling 1,300 mile trip from Nauvoo, Illinois on foot, covered wagons, and hand carts.

Kick Off a Safe Summer with These Water Safety Tips for Kids

With summer approaching, safety experts at Intermountain Health are issuing a reminder: Supervision is critical to keeping kids safe around the water.“Drowning is the second leading cause of preventable injury death for Utah children under age 14, with 70 percent of drowning deaths happening between May and August,” said Doug Thomas, director of community health at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital.“But not all drowning deaths are related to summer activities: About 1 in 5 happen in bathtubs,” he said.
