Marysvale News

In a three-day obedience trial for companion dogs, Marysvale resident, Olive, and her human companion, Gayle Van Ryte, took first place in the novice category of the competition held in Layton, Utah at the Versa Dog Training facility. Olive exhibited extraordinary obedience training in the three legs of the competition. The event lasted three days, each day representing one leg of the competition. There was a total of 200 points possible for the dogs to earn each day. Companion dogs (CDs) must earn at least 170 points to move forward into the next leg. Olive won first place in all three legs. She now holds the American Kennel Club (AKC) title as an obedience novice. Allyson Olson, also a Marysvale resident, and her dog, Snap, were also there but competed in an advanced category. Olive is a very busy working dog when she’s not competing. Each week, Gayle takes her to Monroe Assisted Living and the Beehive Care Center in Richfield. Many of the residents look forward to Olive’s visits each week.
