Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Jackie Marie Snook Powell, 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Richfield March 25, 2023, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born July 24, 1946, in Fruita, Colorado, a daughter of Clarence Franklin and Wyoma Dale Dogion Snook. She graduated from Green River High School and went on to get a bachelor of science degree at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
Jackie married the love of her life, Jesse Truman Powell, Sept. 14, 1961, in Green River. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple Nov. 18, 1966.
She is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as a primary teacher and in the Stake Relief Society. She and Jesse served two missions, one in California and one at the Palmyra LDS temple. She served as matron in the Manti temple while her husband served in the temple presidency.
Jackie was a volunteer EMT and worked on the Green River Ambulance.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and doing handiwork. She will be greatly missed.
Jackie is survived by her beloved husband, Jesse, Richfield; and her eight children, Jeannie Ekker, Beaver Dam, Arizona; Julie and Darin King, Cedar City; James and Ann Powell, Yucca Valley, California; Jerry and Samantha Powell, Perry; Jay and Laurie Powell, Spirit Lake, Idaho; Jeanette and Jeff Pei; Jessica and Duke Alvey, all Hanksville; and Joan and Eric Geppelt, Bountiful; 50 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gary Snook and Margaret Sherrill Luther, Cedar Park, Texas; and Virginia Porter, Hutchinson, Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Franklin and Wyoma Dale Dodgion Snook; and a sister, Gaylean Louise Stewart.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. in the Richfield 10th LDS ward chapel, 675 West 200 South in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. or at the ward chapel in Richfield Wednesday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m., prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina.
