As I attended the 24th of July Pioneer Day parade in Monroe, I thought of how fortunate we are to live in our beautiful, peaceful valley. As the parade progressed, we were treated to a magnificent display of black vehicles, each bearing the proud words “Sevier County Sheriff’s Dept.” Everyone clapped and cheered as they passed by. It was a wonderful display of the hard work and dedication these police officers put forth, on our behalf, each and every day. We hear of the disrespect shown to the police and the call to defund them. I believe I speak for most Sevier County residents when I say thank you, with appreciation, to the men and women of the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department for their service and dedication, which protects us all.
