I sent the following letter to all three County Commissioners —
I tried to fill out the survey put out by Malcolm about the Richfield pool complex. I couldn’t finish it because it was written on the assumption that I would actually use it.
As a citizen of Salina, I am very much in opposition to the idea that Richfield wants the county to pay for their white elephant project.
If Richfield City wants to pay for such a money pit, that’s on them, but don’t expect the rest of the county to pay for it.
Salina City is in the process of rebuilding our own swimming pool. We asked both Redmond and Aurora to help in our project, and both turned us down, which is their prerogative.
I implore you as county commissioners to withdraw the county as a sponsor and don’t put it to a county-wide vote. I’m afraid that it would get ugly, for good reason.
