Karma LaFave

Karma LaFave

Our dear mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Karma Jean Jensen LaFave, a 45-year Bremerton, Washington, resident passed away at home Feb. 1, 2020. She was 79 years old. She fought a debilitating illness with courage, grace, determination and faith that things would be better on the other side. We feel comforted with the knowledge that her reunion with her parents, infant son and beloved aunts, uncles and cousins was joyful.

Karma was born March 17, 1940, in Richfield, at the home of her aunt, Fern Nielsen. Her parents were Orel Eugene and Myrtle Deane (Conder) Jensen.

Karma graduated from Richfield High School and married Donald Anderson in 1958. They later divorced, and Karma married David LaFave in 1961. Karma and David lived at various times in Virginia, Idaho, Maryland, Texas, California and Washington State while David was serving in the US Navy. They raised three children together and divorced in 1988.

Karma loved children and provided care for as many as 12 at a time in her home daycare that she operated for 37 years. Karma also loved to shop and to collect her “treasures” such as teddy bears, baby dolls and Peanuts figurines. Karma was also very crafty and at times in her life created many beautiful handmade items with ceramics, sewing, macrame and stained glass.

Karma is survived by her brother Ken (Shelia) Jensen, Annabella, and her three children, daughter, Kristi (Tom) Croswaite, Bremerton,Washington; and sons, Kelly (Susan) LaFave, Anacortes, Washington; and Kim LaFave, Bremerton, Washington. Karma is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, two nephews and four nieces. Karma was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and she will be deeply missed.

Karma was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Kory Dean Anderson.

Her family wishes to thank Franciscan Hospice and Palliative Care for their support and compassion during the last chapter of Karma’s life on earth, and the Silverdale ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which she was a member.

In accordance with Karma’s wishes, a memorial service will not be held. A family graveside service and interment will be held later in the year at the Richfield Cemetery.
