Ruth Elnorah Grover Hansen, 93, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away Sept. 25, 2012, in Monroe.
Ruth was born Jan. 28, 1919, in Archer, Idaho, to John and Elnorah Homer Grover.
She grew up in Archer, south of Rexburg, Idaho, and attended schools in Archer and Rexburg. She excelled in spelling, typing and editing; and helped with several local publications throughout her life.
She married Afton Elwin Hansen Sept. 6, 1938, in Rexburg. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. They lived the first year of married life in Goshen, Idaho, after which they bought farmland in Archer and raised their family. Afton and Ruth were well respected and successful in their farming operations. Afton preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1989.
Prior to Afton’s death, they purchased a home in Richfield, to live close to their daughter, J’Lee. For several years Ruth continued to spend the summers at her home in Idaho, but eventually sold that farm and resided in Richfield for the last years of her life.
Ruth was an excellent cook, seamstress, quilter and gardener. She enjoyed family, friends and neighbors. She served faithfully in her church callings and especially enjoyed serving others. Her good health and strong work ethic kept her busy, even during the 23 years that she spent without Afton.
Ruth is survived by her children, Dale (Ruth), Lehi; Leon, Nampa, Idaho; Neil (Cathy), Saratoga Springs; and J’Lee (Lee) Bennett, Richfield; 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren; sister, Blanch Kirkham, Archer; brother, Loren (Leona) Grover, Idaho Falls, Idaho; sister-in-law, LuDean Grover, Archer and Overton, Nev.
Also preceded in death by parents; brothers, Russell Grover and Wesley Grover; four infant children; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to all the people at Monroe Canyon Assisted Living for the wonderful care and support that they gave Ruth during the last year of her life.
