ANNABELLA — Michael Ralph Wyatt, 72, Annabella, earned his wings May 31, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born Dec. 4, 1947, in Burbank, California, to Ralph and Georgina Wyatt. He was the oldest of two children.
He graduated class of 1966 from Edgewood High School in West Covina, California. The following year he joined the United States Air Force (1967-1973) and served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969.
He married the love of his life, Deborah Jane Willes June 13, 1970. They were blessed with five children, Michael, Lorie, Jennie, Erin and Jonathan. In 1979, they moved their family to Annabella. That same year he began working for the SUFCO Mine. He enjoyed playing pranks on his coworkers and earned the nickname “RagAss” which he was very proud of. He retired from the mine in 2001.
He enjoyed taking his grandkids on four-wheeler rides, being sarcastic and teasing everyone. He was always the “fastest runner.” He had a love for cars, motorcycles, music and played the steel guitar. He loved the outdoors and made the best oatmeal cookies.
Michael is survived by his wife, Deborah; children, Michael (Elizabeth) Wyatt; Lorie (Carson) Nowers; Jennie Wyatt; Erin (Jason) Westwood; and Jonathan (Jessi) Wyatt; sister, Jane (Gary) Mansfield; and 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Georgina Wyatt; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harvey and Betty Willes; and daughter-in-law, Emily Wyatt.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 18, at the Annabella City Center from 1 to 3 p.m., for family and friends.
