Richard (Wayne) Larson, 58, passed away peacefully from cancer Tuesday, March 17, in St. George, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, to Richard Allen and Janis Braithwaite Larson. He married Tammy Shepherd Larson in Richfield Aug. 6, 1982.
He was raised in Ephraim and graduated from Richfield High School in 1980. He worked construction in his early years and started his career in corrections in 1990 where he worked at the Central Utah Correctional Facility in Gunnison for 29 years.
He was a father of two children, Jason Larson, Richfield; and Staci (Kevin) Joiner, St. George. He loved them both and would do anything for them. He was a grandpa of four wonderful grandchildren, Willow and Emily Larson and Kayson and Jaxon Joiner. He enjoyed reading to them and taking them on four wheeler rides. He was our big teddy bear.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Richard Larson; brother, Fred Allen; and mother-in-law, Jeannine (Jay) Shepherd.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy; children, Jason and Staci (Kevin); grandchildren, Willow and Emily Larson and Kayson and Jaxon Joiner; mother, Jan Larson, Central Valley; brother, Dale Larson, Richfield; and half-brothers, Chris, Randy and Blaine (Tara) Larson.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in ICU Dixie Regional Medical Center and his work family at CUCF.
A casual celebration of life is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at the old town hall located at 90 North Main, Annabella, with an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with outdoor refreshments/food at the pavilion. An Honor Guard ceremony will be performed by CUCF at 1 p.m. There will notbe any formal graveside service.
