Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Joseph L. Christensen, 75, returned home to his Heavenly Father June 27, 2020, in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by family at his home. He was born Feb. 6, 1945, in Richfield, to Karl Avery and Adeline Rose Stolpe Christensen.

Joe often shared memories of growing up in Central and the surrounding areas while hunting, fishing and swimming in the canals around his home. As a young man he enjoyed playing sports, working the family farm and driving the milk truck around Sevier County before he had a license. He had a love of all sports and played them all well.

While in high school, he met the love of his life Janet Moss Christensen. They were engaged before his mission to North Argentina. When he returned, they were married in the Salt Lake temple Aug. 26, 1966. Joe continued his schooling at Brigham Young University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, they moved back to Richfield, where he worked for Utah Department of Transportation. In 1990, Joe was hired with the City of Las Vegas as an engineering project manager. He was instrumental in developing the flood detention basins all over Clark County. He worked until 2008, when he retired. Upon retirement, he worked in the Las Vegas temple with his wife, Janet. Over the years he held multiple callings in the church. The ones he loved most were working with the youth and scouts. He loved being outside and made any excuse to go.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Janet; their children, Wade (Amy) Christensen, Mckay (Tracy) Christensen, Jennifer (Ped) Palmer, Natalie (Scott) Oakley and Jessica (Travis) Ivie; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sister, Marilyn (Craig) Daniels; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends who he loved dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Calvin and Robert.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 8, at 11 a.m., at the Magleby Mortuary in Richfield. Friends may call prior to services at the mortuary from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Richfield City Cemetery.
