Tennis ’Cats close out season

The Richfield High School boys’ tennis team competed in the 3A state championship tournament at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City, May 9 and 11. 

“It is always fun to see the boys play well after working so hard and improving over the course of the season,” said Scott Saunders, head coach. 

Individual results are as follows –

• TJ Gadd, first singles – beat a player from Layton Christian Academy and then lost to a player from Rowland Hall.

• Emmett Hinck, second singles – defeated players from Maesar Preparatory Academy and Judge Memorial before losing to Waterford in the semi-final round. 

• Parker Achenbach, third singles – beat players from Maesar Preparatory Academy and Judge Memorial before losing to Waterford in the semi-final round.

• Justus Reitz and Luke Robbins, first doubles – won over Grantsville and Union before losing to Rowland Hall in the semi-final round. 

• Jake Ross and Tyler Saunders, second doubles – were defeated in a close first-round matchup against Morgan.
