Lady ’Cats suffer first loss

Richfield High School’s girls’ tennis team hosted the Lady Templars of Manti in Richfield, Sept. 4. The Lady Templars defeated the Lady Wildcats, 3-2. 

“Manti is a really good team,” said Scott Saunders, RHS’ head coach. “It was good for our girls to get some great competition. It was a close match, which Manti scrapped out the win.” 

Winners included –

• Third singles – Madison Lewis 6-4, 6-1.

• First doubles – Marissa McIff and Piper Harris 6-2, 6-1. 

The Lady ’Cats will travel to compete in a tournament in St. George Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14. The squad will then go north to take the court against the Lady Tigers of Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 3:30 p.m. After which, the Lady ’Cats will travel to Blanding for a match against the Lady Broncos at 11 a.m., and then to Moab for a bout against the Lady Red Devils at 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 19.
