Monroe – The girls’ basketball team of South Sevier High School traveled to Delta for a matchup with the Lady Rabbits, Jan. 2. The Lady Rams won the bout 50-35, and remain undefeated to date. The Lady Rams have a 12-0 record and are ranked first in the 3A division.
The Lady Rams established a 21-point advantage by the midpoint of the game against the Lady Rabbits, 33-12. After halftime, the Lady Rams added 12 points to the scoreboard, while the Lady Rabbits put up 14 points. During the final eight-minute stretch, the Lady Rabbits scored nine points and held the Lady Rams to five points.
South Sevier’s Kenzie Jones hit a 3-pointer on her way to 13 points. Brookell Brindley drilled four from downtown for her 12-point contribution. Leah Torgerson added eight points to the Lady Rams’ scoreboard, followed by Presley Chappell who scored seven points. Saige Okerlund nailed a trey for her three points, Aspen Okerlund also had three points and Alexa Robinson chalked one point.
The Lady Rams have back-to-back games on their home court in Monroe Friday and Saturday, Jan. 10-11. The squad will take on the Lady Broncos of San Juan Friday, at 7 p.m., which will be followed by a bout against the Lady Red Devils of Grand Saturday, at 4 p.m.
The Lady Rams will host inter-county rivals, the Lady Wildcats of Richfield, in Monroe Thursday, Jan. 16, at 7 p.m.
