MONROE — The South Sevier High School boys’ basketball team snagged three more wins last week, moving to a 4-0 preseason record.
The Rams had little trouble against North Sevier in Salina Nov. 29, sprinting to a 62-35 win.
South Sevier took control early, owning a 12-4 edge after one quarter. The Rams continued to build on their lead, outscoring North Sevier 28-6 in the third quarter to ice the win.
The Rams went 6-8 from the free-throw-line, while North Sevier was 12-17.
Caleb Barton led the charge with 20 points, including five 3-pointers. Easton Hunt posted 14 points in the game. Kaetz King dropped in a pair of shots from outside the perimeter as he totaled 11 points.
Brodee Tebbs also had two treys as he totaled eight points for the Rams.
North Sevier’s Burke Mickelsen pulled down nine boards and put up 20 points to lead the Wolves’ effort. Brooks Mickelsen added six points to North Sevier’s total.
The Rams went on to defeat a pair of foes at the Central Utah Basketball Preview at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield Friday and Saturday.
First they took down Hurricane in a 52-46 encounter Friday evening. Barton cashed in three 3-pointers as he cruised to 15 points total. Chisholm added 13 more to the Rams’ total. King and Tebbs both had nine points in the game.
The Rams overcame an early deficit against Enterprise Saturday to capture a 71-45 victory.
South Sevier’s boys followed Tebbs’ lead this time as he dropped in four 3-pointers on the way to 17 points. He also nabbed five rebounds. Barton also had four treys as he totaled 14 points.
Chisholm added a pair of downtowners as he posted 13 points against Enterprise. He also had five boards.
Next for the Rams is a game against Delta in Monroe tonight, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m.
