3A State Duels at SVC – Rams win seven of nine duels

The South Sevier Rams’ wrestling team competed in the 3A State Duels at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield Friday and Saturday. The invitational drew 26 teams from across the state of Utah. Individual results by weight class for the Rams at the duels are as follows – 

• 106, Weston Blake – won four of nine matches. One win was by fall; one by decision, 5-3; and one by forfeiture. All five losses were by fall. 

• 113, Mason Gardner – won four of nine matches. Two wins were by fall and two by forfeiture. Two losses were by fall; one by technical fall, 15-0; one by major decision, 9-0; and one by decision, 14-9. 

• 120, Brigham Bradshaw – won two of nine matches. Both wins were by fall. All seven losses were by fall.

• 126, Cole Peterson – won two of nine matches. One win was by major decision, 11-2, and one by decision, 9-4. Four losses were by fall and three by decision – 11-8, 9-5 and 9-2, respectively. 

• 132, Parker Brian – won five of nine matches. Three wins were by fall and two by forfeiture. Two losses were by technical fall – 20-5 and 16-0, respectively; one by major decision, 12-1; and one by decision, 7-2. 

• 138, Triston Fillmore – won eight of nine matches. Seven wins were by fall and one by decision, 4-0. The loss was to Juab’s Channing Warner by decision, 12-5.

• 145, Jett High – won six of eight matches. Four wins were by fall; and two by forfeiture. Both losses were by decision, 3-2. 

• 152, Jaxin Torgerson – won seven of nine matches. Five wins were by fall and two by decision, 12-8 and 15-8. One loss was by fall and one by technical fall, 16-0. 

• 160, Eathan Richards – won five of nine matches. All five wins were by fall. Three losses were by fall and one by decision, 8-3. 

• 182, Taylor Hunt – won eight of nine matches. Five wins were by fall and two by forfeiture. The loss was to Juab’s Rylan Watts by decision, 3-2. 

• 195, Bryce Healey – won seven of nine matches. Three wins were by fall and four by forfeiture. Both losses were by fall. 

• 220, Christopher Good – won six of nine matches. One win was by fall; one by decision, 4-3; and four by forfeiture. One loss was by fall; one by major decision, 9-0; and one by decision, 3-0. 

• 285, Kemmer Jones – won nine of nine matches. Eight wins were by fall and one by forfeiture. 

The Rams will compete in the Battle at the Pound invitational Friday and Saturday, Jan. 10-11, in Gunnison.
