North Sevier High School won its division at the 2A divisional wrestling tournament, which was hosted at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield Friday and Saturday.
The Wolves scored 341 points to capture the division B title, ahead of North Summit’s 330 points and Beaver’s 193.
Delta won the A division, netting 363 points. Millard was next at 305, followed by South Summit at 272.5 and South Sevier at 234.
North Sevier — Dillon Torgerson (113) won his weight class, pinning two opponents on his way to facing Tayte Staples in the championship bout. Torgerson won the match by decision.
Gage Mason (120) also helped the Wolves out with a first place finish. He won his first two matches by technical fall, and finished up by beating Beaver’s John Evans in a 6-2 decision.
Shawn Sorensen (132) also delivered an individual championship, crushing two by fall, and then beating Emery’s McKay Meccariello in an 8-3 decision.
Tanner Sorenson (170) took first place as well, pinning three opponents during the tournament.
Mac Peterson (195) was the final Wolf to win a first place medal, pinning two foes along the way.
Dahlance Smith (106) made it the final round of his weight class, but wound up in second place in a sudden victory by Kanab’s Cody Stubbs. Smith pinned two opponents during the tourney.
Jace Okerlund (145) pinned two foes on his way to a second place finish to North Summit’s Jace Anderson.
Payton Thurston (152) also nabbed second place. He pinned his first two rivals, but was defeated in the championship by North Summit’s Taten Ringel.
Noah Porter (182) nabbed second, coming out on the low end of a 5-3 decision in the championship bout against Beaver’s Tyce Raddon.
Jacob Coates (220) earned a second place finish after pinning two adversaries. He was beat in the first place match by North Summit’s Randin Pentz.
Karson Brunson (138), Tate Johnson (152), Bridger Maxwell (160), Garrett Sessions (170), and Levi Noyes (182) placed third individually.
Walker Burr (132) and Dayton Reed (285) earned fourth place finishes. Shayler Hunt (195) placed fifth.
Braxton Mickelsen (113) placed sixth in his division, followed by Keiran Shields (145) in seventh.
Brendon Maxwell (106), Alex Hales (160) and Braden Johnson (126) placed eighth.
Brickstin Marsh (120) and Kyler Johnson (126) both nabbed ninth.
Gabe Wilcox (138) placed 10th overall.
South Sevier — The Rams followed the lead of Payton Knight, who won the 138-pound class in the A division. Knight went 3-for-3 in pins during the tournament, beating South Summit’s Logan Crandall.
The Rams also saw an impressive performance from Triston Fillmore (120), who placed second after pinning two rivals, but falling to Delta’s Brady Poulsen.
Tyler Leavitt (126) also nabbed second place, pinning one opponent and winning by decision over another. He ultimately was beat in a 6-4 decision by Millard’s Slade Sheriff.
Gavin Tobler (145) and Kemmer Jones (220) both earned third place finishes.
McKinley Jones (145), Jared Grant (152) and Wyatt Morrison (160) each earned fourth place finishes.
Cannon Fuellenbach (132) and Brodie Stanton (195) both finished in fifth.
Weston Amos (113), Brilee Lamprecht (126), Kyler Hallows (182) and Braxton Vakautakakala (285) all earned sixth place finishes.
Ethan Leavitt (113), Jett High (132) and Branson Palmer (170) all finished in seventh place.
Chase Christensen (138) nabbed ninth for the Rams.
