Fillmore signs LOI

Tristan Fillmore signs a letter of intent Friday afternoon at South Sevier High School in Monroe. Fillmore is now set to wrestle at the University of Providence in Great Falls, Montana.

MONROE — South Sevier High School’s Tristan Fillmore finished his prep wrestling career with a second place finish at the 3A state championships.

However, that’s not the end of his time on the mat. Fillmore signed a letter of intent to attend the University of Providence in Great Falls, Montana, Friday afternoon, where he will join the Argonauts’ wrestling program.

“I’m just excited to continue my athletic and academic career,” Fillmore said.

Wrestling is a passion Fillmore has had as long as he can remember.

“It’s always been part of my life,” Fillmore said. “I love it … the friends I’ve met and the memories I’ve made.”

Fillmore said competing on the mat is something that has taught him life lessons about perseverance, character and the value of hard work.

“When you’re out there, it’s all on you, but there are aspects where you need the team,” Fillmore said.

Fillmore is a son of Shawn and Jennifer Fillmore, Annabella.
