Lady soccer ’Cats win one, lose one

Richfield High School’s soccer team split the week with an 8-2 home field victory over Grand’s Lady Red Devils in Richfield, Sept. 24. After which, the Lady Wildcats traveled to Price and took the field against Carbon’s Lady Dinos where the squad suffered a 1-0 loss, Sept. 26. 

Against the Lady Red Devils, the Lady ’Cats established a solid lead in the front half of the matchup scoring six goals. The Lady ’Cats found the back of the net two more times during the back half of the game and the win.

The Lady ’Cat pack had 17 total shots on goal, netting eight of those for a 47 percent conversion rate. Melissa Crane led the Lady ’Cats offense with four shots on goal, three of which went in. Brittan Tait scored two goals from her two shots on goal. Holly Torgersen took four shots on the goal and put two of them in. Katelyn Busk also scored a goal for the Lady ’Cats. Tait had two assists during the bout. Nora Foster, Kate Robinson and Araya Patey chalked an assist as well. 

The match against the fifth ranked Lady Dinos resulted in a tough loss, 1-0, for the Lady ’Cats. Carbon’s Kinley Cowdell scored the lone goal of the game and goalie Emma Flemett recorded the shoutout. 

The Lady ’Cats are 5-3 in region play, have a 10-4 overall record and are currently ranked eighth in the 3A division. 

The Lady ’Cats will host South Sevier’s Lady Rams in Richfield today, Oct. 3, at 4 p.m.
