The Badger Den – Badgers outlast Bobcats for win

Wayne High School’s Braige Jacobsen rounds third after swatting out a two-run homer against Panguitch Friday in Bicknell. The Badgers outlasted a Bobcat rally to claim the win.

BICKNELL — Wayne High School’s baseball team beat Panguitch in an 8-6 game Friday on the Badgers’ home field.

Wayne’s boys pounded the ball through the first inning to get a 3-0 edge.

Panguitch was able to muster a single run in the second, but Wayne came back and ran four more men around the bases to take a 7-1 edge.

Both teams scored once in the fourth.

Panguitch’s boys showed some resolve in the final inning, with a rallying cry that included four runs. However, the Badgers were able to shut down the rally before it became fatal.

Braige Jacobsen and Bridger Brian led the bats for the Badgers, each with one homerun. Logan Chappell smacked out a double for the Badgers.

Hunter Batty and Ethan Morrill covered pitching duties for the Badgers. Morrill had five strikeouts during the game.

Wayne’s next game is in Junction against Piute High School Friday, Sept. 13, at 3 p.m.
