The Wildcat boys’ soccer team at Richfield High School kicked off the 2020 season with a 5-2 victory over the Parowan Rams on the ’Cats’ home field in Richfield, March 3. Ben Evensen and Kordell Morgan each scored two goals and Ian Taylor scored one goal for the ’Cats during the bout.
The ’Cats’ second matchup of the new season was against the Gunnison Bulldogs in Richfield, March 5. They picked up their second win with a 3-0 shutout over the Bulldogs. During the game, Jackson Archibald found the back of the net twice, while Evensen did once. Evan Costa and Spencer Christensen split goal duties for the ’Cats.
The ’Cats then traveled south to compete in the St. George Tournament, a two-day event where they faced off against three 4A squads. The Mountain Crest Mustangs defeated the ’Cats, 5-0, Friday. The Stallions of Stansbury High School beat the ’Cats, 4-1, Friday evening. After which, the Crimson Cliff Mustangs earned a 6-0 shutout over the ’Cats, Saturday.
The next three matchups for the ’Cats will be road games. The first bout will be against the Carbon Dinos in Price today, March 12. The second will be against the Broncos of San Juan in Blanding Tuesday, March 17, followed by a bout against Grand’s Red Devils Thursday, March 19. All games are scheduled to kickoff at 4 p.m.
