While Christmas is still a month away, people are already gearing up to help those in need during this holiday season.

Sub for Santa in partnership with the Toys for Tots — sponsored by the US Marine Corps Reserve — was able to help more than 600 children in the region last year, said Shara Bastian, manager of the Six County Association of Governments Volunteer Connection.

“We have already received great support from local businesses this year and appreciate their help,” Bastian said. “There will be angel tree and donations jars located in various locations throughout Sevier County where individuals can also donate items or money.”

The Sub for Santa/Toys for Tots program is comprised of a committee with organizations including Utah Division of Child and Family Services, The Volunteer Connection and community volunteers.

“Christmas is a time of goodwill, charity and happiness and we want to see those who are less fortunate receive a good Christmas,” Bastian said. “The application process for the Sub for Santa

and Toys for Tots program started on Nov. 14, and needs to be completed by [Tuesday] Dec. 10.”

Those interested in making a donation can do so by contacting Valorie Johnson, domestic violence specialist at (435) 979-9024.
