Richfield Area Chamber of Commerce President Stephanie Moulton presented Alan Christensen of Christensen’s Department Store with the Customer Service Superstar award at a chamber meeting held at Steve’s Steakhouse in Richfield, March 11.

Christensen is a Richfield native. He graduated from Richfield High School, after which he served a mission in Uruguay and Paraguay and then attended Brigham Young University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1979. He then returned to Richfield and for the past 40 years has been a part of the team at Christensen’s Department Store, which also has stores in Cedar City and St. George. His wife, Debbie, as well as his six children, have worked alongside him in the family business over the years.

“I appreciate their loyalty, commitment and hard work,” Christensen said. “It has also been a very fun and rewarding experience to work with my father, both of my brothers and my nephew over the years.

“During this time, I have also developed a wonderful friendship with many of our good customers and have enjoyed helping them and getting to know them better,” Christensen said. “I have really enjoyed getting up everyday for the past 40 years and going to work and I hope that I can continue to do so – but, just not for 40 more years.”
