CAP cadets change command

Civil Air Patrol Cadet Kyber Lee, left, hands the guidon back to 1st Sgt. Grayson Christensen July 23. Lee is the cadet program’s new commanding officer, taking the reigns from Cadet 2nd Lt. Kelby Bosh.

It’s a tradition steeped in both practicality and pageantry — the military change of command.

Members of the Sevier Valley Squadron of Civil Air Patrol cadets took part in a change of command ceremony, July 23, at Richfield’s airport.

Lt. Col Mike Fernandez supervised the ceremony, which is hosted as a way to make sure a military unit is never without a commanding officer.

The event was hosted at the CAP hanger at the Richfield Municipal Airport with the switch of the cadets’ commander from outgoing Cadet 2nd Lt. Kelby Bosh to incoming Cadet Capt. Khyber Lee.

Bosh is a son of Jordon and Heather Bosh, Aurora, while Lee is a daughter of Ryan and Tamberleigh Lee, Richfield.

“I would like to congratulate 2nd Lt. Bosh on a job well done,” Fernandez said.

The CAP cadet program currently has approximately 20 participants in it from Sevier, Wayne and Sanpete counties. The CAP hosts the youth development program. The CAP is the civilian auxiliary for the United States Air Force.
