Hayward observes his 95th birthday

GLENWOOD — Austin L. Hayward will celebrate his 95th birthday with a celebration for family, friends and neighbors at the Annabella Recreation Center in Annabella Saturday, Oct. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Born Oct. 12, 1924, to parents Wilbur E. and Verna Maynard Hayward, he married Linda Hunt Anton.

Austin grew up and went to school in Bell, California. During World War II, he proudly served in the US Navy. His primary places of employment were Atomic International, a division of North American Aviation; Thiokol; and ILA in Ohio from which he retired in 1990 as vice president after 18 years of playing a major role in building the business. He then settled in Glenwood, having fallen in love with the Sevier Valley many years before.

Austin and Linda have two children including Carol Dooley, St. Paris, Ohio; and Audrey Hayward, Carmel, California.

He also has seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
