SEVIER — An accident claimed the life of a 35-year-old Sevier woman Sunday evening, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

Tana Maynes was traveling east on Interstate 70 near Clear Creek when the Kia Soul she was driving left the roadway. The vehicle went through a fence and was launched in the air.

The resulting impact destroyed the car and ejected Maynes, according to the UHP. 

Maynes suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. She was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

It appears Maynes had fallen asleep, which is what resulted in the crash, according to the UHP. She was not wearing a seat belt.
