Devastating crash – One perishes in collision

Crews work to help the victims of an accident July 8, near Sigurd. One person died as a result of the accident.

SIGURD — One person was killed and another injured in a collision near Sigurd on U.S. Highway 89 July 8.

The accident occurred when the driver of a 2014 Ford Explorer attempted to make a U-turn at an intersection in the road, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. 

The Explorer turned directly into the path of a 1989 Peterbilt semi driven by Jerry Williams, 54, Richfield. The semi T-boned the Explorer on the left side.

The driver of the Explorer, Sherman Clark, 83, and passenger Jill Clark, 76, both Sandy, were both injured in the accident. 

Jill later passed away due to injuries sustained in the accident, according to the UHP. 

Williams was wearing a seat belt, and was not injured in the accident.
