SIGURD — More details were released as the investigation into the death of a woman found in a canal in Sevier County continued.
“We are still two to three weeks out from getting toxicology back from the state medical examiner’s office,” said Sevier County Sheriff Nate Curtis.
A farmer who was irrigating found the body of Sally Barlow, 32, Apple Valley, June 16.
Barlow’s cause of death remains under investigation, but currently it looks like an unfortunate drowning, Curtis said.
“Her clothes and cell phone where found neatly folded on the canal bank,” Curtis said. He said there were no obvious signs of physical trauma or indications of any drug or alcohol use.
“She appears to have been in the area visiting family,” Curtis said. He said it appears Barlow may have been in the canal up to 24 hours.
“Right now we suspect a medical issue may have contributed to her drowning,” Curtis said. He said once the autopsy is complete, a more definitive cause of death will be determined.
