Four scouts earn Eagle awards

Randon Sandall, left; Ethan Costa, Jayden Lewis and Chandler Barclay celebrate earning their Eagle Scout awards during a ceremony hosted in Richfield in December 2019. The Boy Scout program is still available in the region.

A group of four boys from the Richfield Boy Scout Troop 603 received their Eagle Scout Awards in December.

The group includes Randon Sandall, son of Garon and Shiree Sandall; Ethan Costa, son of Nathan and Melinda Costa; Jayden Lewis, son of Teddy and Paulette Lewis; and Chandler Barclay, son of Ryan and Melissa Barclay, all Richfield.

For his Eagle project, Randon cleared a portion of the mountain bike trail system under development west of Richfield.

Ethan de-junked, cleaned and organized a shed owned by Richfield City so the fire department and Sevier County theater group can use the storage area.

Jayden removed the old light at a pavilion at the Richfield Lions Park and installed new ones.

Chandler installed new gates for the U.S. Forest Service.

The group is among the last Eagle Scouts in Richfield to earn the award prior to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ split with the Boy Scouts of America at the end of 2019.

However, a community Boy Scout troop is still active in Richfield.
