The Richfield City Police Department is investigating a rash of car burglaries reported June 26.

One of the burglary attempts was stopped because the car’s owner was sleeping in it at the time of the attempt, Lloyd said.

“It startled them and they dropped some items taken from some of the other cars,” Lloyd said.

The attempted burglary occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m., June 26.

The burglaries occurred in neighborhoods adjacent to 400 West between 400 South and 800 South.

“We are asking people to please keep their vehicles and houses locked,” Lloyd said.

He said people should not keep any valuables in their vehicles overnight, especially firearms or cash.

“Keeping things locked up is the best defense,” Lloyd said.

Anyone who has something missing from their vehicles, or who has information about the burglaries, is asked to report it to the police by calling (435) 896-8484.
