The Utah Highway Patrol confiscated more than 9 pounds of methamphetamine Sunday morning between Richfield and Salina.

Juan Moises Juarez-Moreno, Tijuana, Mexico, was driving on Interstate 70 near milepost 44 when he was pulled over for a traffic violation. The trooper who made the stop became suspicious of criminal activity while talking with Moreno.

After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, the trooper found several bundles of methamphetamine hidden in the door panels of the 2005 Toyota Corolla.

Moreno was charged with possession of methamphetamine, along with a passenger, Oralia Beltran, Bell Gardens, Calif. The value of the meth is estimated at $360,000.

Charges against the suspects are being filed in federal court. This marks the third methamphetamine trafficking bust in Sevier County since Aug. 30.
