The Richfield High School cheer team brought home six trophies to display following the 2019 Utah Cheer Club Sport State Cheer Competition at Salt Lake Community College Saturday night.

The girls and boys of the team won the sideline timeout dance, sideline timeout cheer, sideline school fight song, game time freestyle, varsity all girl show cheer and varsity co-ed cheer portions of the competition.

South Sevier’s team earned second in the sideline timeout dance, and varsity co-ed show cheer.

Cheerleading is not sanctioned under the Utah High School Activities Association umbrella as a sport. This means the teams have to compete as clubs.

However, the cheer squads are the same that provide support to varsity football, basketball and wrestling events at the high schools.

Utah’s cheer as a club sport is in its sixth season with 60 schools participating.

South Sevier’s coach, Dani Dickinson, was named as the Coach of the Year for 2019.
