The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 32-year-old Sigurd woman.

The woman’s body was discovered in a canal near Sigurd Tuesday morning. A farmer was clearing some debris and preparing to take a water turn when he found the body and contacted the sheriff's office, said Sevier County Sheriff Nate Curtis.

“We’re still investigating at this point,” Curtis said. He said there was no apparent trauma or injuries. The woman’s body was transported to the state medical examiner’s office to determine the cause of death.

“We have spoken with the family and are trying to piece together what happened,” Curtis said.
