REDMOND — A fire ripped through a family’s home in Redmond Tuesday, burning both the interior and exterior of the structure.

The home of Trevor and Cheyenne Akee was a complete loss due to the inferno.

When the fire was reported, flames had already engulfed portions of the home. Flames could be seen inside the home, including the living room area, said Sevier County Sheriff Nate Curtis.

“It caused severe damage to the home,” Curtis said. He said the investigation was still in its early phases.

The fire was at 185 South 200 West.

“Fortunately, no one was in the home at the time,” Curtis said. He said there were some unconfirmed reports there may have been pets in the home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Curtis said the Utah State Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation of the fire. No people were reported injured.
