Before the official rodeo season for 2007-08 got under way, several Sevier Rodeo team members participated in the Panguitch Invitational Rodeo held July 25-28.

This rodeo invites all state qualifiers from the western states except the four from each event that are at the high school national finals. In the final average, representing the Sevier Rodeo Team, Delainya Veater took third place in barrel racing, Jayden Asay placed fifth in saddle bronc riding, and Ace Anderson placed 10th in steer wrestling.

The 2007-08 season started with the Panguitch Rodeo Aug. 10, and Bryce Valley Rodeo Aug. 11 — both held in Panguitch. Leading the team in the first rodeo was Dal Christensen with a win in calf roping.

Anderson took second place in steer wrestling with Veater placing third in barrel racing. Rhett Anderson and his partner placed sixth in team roping.

Travis Olsen led the team on the second day placing first in bull riding. Ace and Ryan Anderson roped for seventh place in team roping. In calf roping, Dillon Taylor placed seventh and Christensen placed ninth.

The Rich High School Rodeo was held Aug. 25 in Randolph. Casi Christensen had a great weekend winning the girls’ reserve all-around champion by placing first in the girls’ breakaway and fourth with her partner and brother, Dal, in team roping.

Justin Porter placed sixth in team roping with his partner, while Rhett Anderson placed ninth in calf roping.
