White earns second in college finals
Richfield cowboy Taylor White came very close to being named the top college rider in the nation at the College National Finals Rodeo.
White started out his appearance at the rodeo, which began June 10, with a winning performance in the first go of the saddle bronc. In the second go, he scored a 68.
In bull riding, White started out scoring a sixth place finish in the first go.
He went on to take fourth and third in the second and third go performances. However, the bull got away in the final go.
White's cumulative score was enough for him to place second in the all-around, to Nebraska's Steven Dent, who led Ranger College to a first place finish. White led the UVSC team to second place overall.
White is a former National High School Finals Rodeo champion in the all-around, which he won in 2001.
Daren Albrecht, another Richfield cowboy, was also a competitor in 2001 when he and White were both on the Sevier High School Rodeo Team.
Albrecht, riding for New Mexico State University, finished the saddle bronc event ranked in 24th place.
